What is Meant by MIP 67 and Why it Occurs?
When a device fails to register the “PDSN (Packet Data Serving Node)”, the error pops up known as “MIP 67”. In simple terms, it is a mobile node authentication that occurs when your smartphone cannot be accessible to cellular services.
The other reason for MIP 67 is due to using the same old sim in a new device, incorrect provisioning, and when there is no service even if you have a sim installed in your device.
Let’s head toward the solutions to the MIP 67 issue.
Methods to Fix MIP 67 Error
There are several methods to fix the MIP 67 error which are explained below:
- Try Turning off and on Mobile Data
- Try Restarting your Smartphone
- Try Changing the Network Mode
- Try Updating the PRL of the Device
- Try Changing the MSID
Method 1: Try Turning OFF and ON Mobile Data
The MIP 67 notification will stop displaying when you try turning off your mobile data because it will not attempt to check for cellular service. To check if that method works, turn on the “Mobile Data” again. Try removing and inserting the SIM in case the method does not work.
Method 2: Try Restarting your Smartphone
Restarting your device is the best option to fix many issues. Most of the devices can be restarted by holding the power button and the menu will appear. Tap on the “Restart” button from the menu. The issue will be resolved and no pop-up will appear on the screen when the device turns on.
Method 3: Try Changing the Network Mode
To change the network mode:
- Go to “Settings” and select any mode such as “LTE/CDMA” from the “Mobile Network Mode”.
- Once the mode is set then go to “General” in settings to check the “System Updates Profile”.
The pop-up will not appear on the screen if the wrong network mode is the reason behind this issue.
Method 4: Try Updating the PRL of the Device
The database stored on CDMA is also known as the “Preferred Roaming List”. In order to receive excellent service, it is recommended to update PRL; to do so:
- Connect your device to the Wi-Fi.
- Now, start with opening up settings.
- Go to software update and tap on Update PRL.
- After the update, you will see a confirmation message after a couple of minutes.
Method 5: Try Changing the MSID
MSID also known as “Mobile Station ID” is a unique identifier for a wireless phone. It is used for emergency calls. So, there might be a possibility that the wrong MSID is preventing your device from using cellular services and that MIP 67 keeps popping up on the screen. Contact your service provider and get to know about your MSID. After that, you have to dial “##847446#”. Now, tap on edit to enter the MSID provided by the customer support team. Your device will reboot and the MIP 67 issue will be resolved.
These methods will work and fix the issue for you. In case, if none of these methods work, then contact your service provider or try factory reset which will restore your device to its original state by erasing all the data.
