How to Tell if iPhone is Fast Charging

The fast charging feature on smartphones is responsible for charging the devices faster than normal charging. For example, if the smartphone takes “120 minutes” to fully charge on the regular “12-watt” charger, and in comparison, if we connect the fast charger “18 watts” to the same phone, it will charge the device in “90 minutes”. Now, most new smartphones support fast charging whether it is an Android smartphone or an iPhone.

The blog will illustrate the important details and steps to tell if iPhone is fast charging or not.

How to Know if iPhone is Charging Fast

The iPhone smartphone does not tell whether it is charging fast via any text or audio notifications. Some requirements must be fulfilled to fast charge the iPhone device:

After meetings these requirements, we can fast-charge the iPhone device. Now, let’s head toward some important details related to iPhone fast charging before getting to the main point:

Compatible iPhone Fast Charging Models:

Apple introduced fast charging in “2017” while launching the “iPhone 8” smartphone, so, all the Apple smartphone devices launched in 2017 and later support fast charging.

Hard-Coded iPhones:

The iPhone devices only fast charge from (0% to 79%), when the iPhone battery reaches 80% then it will stop the fast charging and charges the device at normal speed.

Do not use More than 20W Fast Charger:

iPhone devices only manage “20W fast chargers”, so if we use more 20W fast adapters then it does not increase the charging speed of the iPhone.

How to Test iPhone Fast Charging

We can test the iPhone whether it is charging fast or not by performing two methods which are stated below:

  • Check the Fast Charging Through Ampere Application.
  • Check the Fast Charging Through Time it takes from 0 to 50 Percent.

Method 1: Check the Fast Charging Through Ampere Application

Ampere” is an application that measures the arriving current and voltage on the smartphone. The Ampere app will help us to know whether the iPhone device is charging fast or not. To do this process:

  • Step 1: Download the “Ampere” application via this link.
  • Step 2: Set up the app and connect the charger to the iPhone smartpone.
  • Step 3: After the iPhone device starts charging, hit the “Measure Ampere” option:
  • Step 4: It will display the speed of the charging on the iPhone device. Here, we can confirm whether our iPhone device is charging fast or not:

This is how we can successfully know if the phone is charging fast or not.

Method 2: Check the Fast Charging Through Time it takes from 0 to 50 Percent

Apple” claims that iPhone devices take 30 minutes from “0% to 50” percent when their device is charging through a fast charger. So, we can test the charging speed of the iPhone device by applying the following procedure and steps:

  • Step 1: Drain the iPhone battery to “0%” powered off.
  • Step 2: Connect the fast charger to the iPhone and start the timer on the stopwatch or any other smartphone.
  • Step 3: If the iPhone device charges 50% for around 30 minutes then the iPhone device is charging fast and if the device does not significantly charge in 30 minutes then the iPhone device is not charging fast.

We have indicated the details, requirements, and process for testing fast charging on an iPhone device.

Conclusion

We can tell if iPhone is fast charging with the assistance of two methods: check the fast charging through “The Ampere application” or “manually measure the time that it takes from 0 to 50 percent”. In the first method, download the “Ampere” app and select the “Measure Ampere” option. It will tell us the charging speed. In the second method, we will drain the iPhone battery to 0 percent (%) and then connect the charger to it. If the iPhone device charges 50 percent around 30 minutes then iPhone is charging fast and if the device charges 50 percent more than 30 minutes then the iPhone is not charging fast. This post has enlightened the important details and steps to tell if an iPhone device is charging fast or not.
